I co-founded HVV Football Factory, a grassroots football club originally based in The Hague. Three years in, we kept running into the same problem: equipment vanished. Footballs left in car boots. Bibs taken home to wash and never returned. Jerseys kept by players who left mid-season. About €1,000 of gear gone every year, replaced and gone again.
We tried the obvious fixes. A WhatsApp group lasted three weeks. A Google Sheet worked until people stopped updating it. Spond's equipment feature was bolted on and didn't fit the kit cupboard. Pen and paper beat all of them, until the paper got wet.
So I built the tool I wished my own club had. Affordable enough that any volunteer can sign up without a committee vote. Narrow enough that it does the one thing properly. Useful enough that the kit man actually opens it on a Tuesday night.

Will I lose my data if I cancel?
No. Your data is yours. You can export your full inventory as CSV at any time, in two clicks, with no subscription. If you cancel a paid plan you keep your account on the Free tier (1 team, 30 items) and all your data stays. If you delete your account, everything is wiped within 30 days. No hostage situations.
We already use Spond. Do we need to switch?
No. Keep using Spond. It's great for fixtures, parent communication, and payments. ClubShed sits next to it for the equipment piece that Spond doesn't do well. Most of our users run both. The full honest comparison is on our Spond comparison page.
Does it work in a kit cupboard with no signal?
Mostly yes. ClubShed is a web app that runs in your phone's browser, so the page loads on whatever signal you have and stays usable while you scan items and edit. Changes sync the moment you're back on Wi-Fi or 4G. Most modern kit cupboards have at least one bar of 5G these days. If yours doesn't, the worst case is you queue up the check-ins on a paper note and clear them when you step outside.
Do my coaches need to install an app?
No. Nothing to install for anyone. ClubShed runs in any phone browser. Coaches can scan a QR sticker with their normal phone camera to check items in or out. You can add it to your home screen if you want it to behave like an app, but nothing in the app store, nothing to update, no permissions to grant.
Is my club's data private?
Yes. ClubShed is built and hosted in Europe (Cloudflare and Resend, both EU regions). Your data is never sold, never used for advertising, never shared with third parties. No analytics that track you across the web, no Facebook pixel, no Google Ads tags. We're GDPR-compliant by default because we collect almost nothing about you in the first place. Spond is free. Why pay €15.99 a month?
Because narrow tools that do one thing well are worth a small amount of money. Spond monetises through transaction fees on the payment side. ClubShed monetises through a simple subscription. €15.99/month is about the cost of one lost football. Most clubs lose hundreds of euros of equipment every season because they don't have a system.
